My Political Party

I would say that I'm closely aligned with the Democratic Party for a myriad of reasons. One issue I definitely feel the most strong about is abortion. I'm pro-choice like the majority of democrats. People automatically assume that democrats love killing babies because of this, but that is completely wrong. It is pro-choice, giving the mother the right to choose whether or not she wants the kid. It'd be better to abort the child rather than having it live a life of suffering. Plus, what if the mother was raped and taken advantage of, is she supposed to deal with a baby she never even planned for? Also, I feel like the Democratic Party associates itself with the average person thus representing the average folk more. I like that. I also like how they are pushing for a more equal society rather than heavily distinguished class lines. I'm not saying that we should be funding the deceiving people who take advantage of the government intentionally--I still believe every one should work hard for their money, but I feel like this party gives a bunch of average people the chance to make something of themselves rather than the run-of-the-mill clones that make up most of our history--quite a strong sense of diversity among this party which I love. There are, however, some issues I do not personally agree with on the democratic platform, such as entirely universal health care and their stance regarding homosexuals, but for the most part, I consider myself to be a democrat. Plus, Bush is a republican--blech, gross.

I think that this post was very well written and I agree with pretty much everything you have said, particularly the part about the democratic party representing the average people. I think that it focuses on uniting people from different backgrounds as a whole and working together to improve the nation. Good job!!

Thanks Hilary! Yeah, especially considering how this whole nation is comprised of people from different cultures. The actual original inhabitants, the Native Americans, were the ones cast aside. )':
