I feel as if a key issue facing many of the students, primarily my fellow classmates are the actions regarding the change in the grading scale. Now it's not the actual decision of making it a ten-point scale that's the problem, it's about how retroactive the new scale actually goes back. Luckily in addition to the new grading scale, Honors classes are now attached with a .5 weight and A.P. classes are given a 1.0 weight. Before Honors classes were given nothing and A.P. classes were given the .5 weight.
Back to the retroactivity of the new scale, it turns out for seniors, we really get the raw end of the deal. The ten-point scale only applies to this year's and last year's grades. The reason why this is such an issue is because I, along with many of my peers have taken Honors and A.P. classes since middle school or early high school. It's infuriating how the upcoming students can use this to their full advantage whereas when we signed up for those same classes, we had no intention of boosting our grades. I believe that every one's grades, even the past grades, should be altered to match the new grading scale. Colleges will see that we have the ten-point scale now and look at our past grades, which are considerably lower than what it would be on the new scale, and frown. I know that it'll require a lot of tedious work but really it's our future that's on the line and that one "C" makes all the difference.

I think you’re totally right. It would be such a different thing if the past grades are updated to the new scale giving the students much more opportunities and obviously better grades. I think your idea is right since as you said it’s our future and one C could make a huge difference.
