My Favorite Political Issue

One political issue I feel strongly about is the push for Affirmative Action. Don't know what that is? Affirmative Action was introduced way back when John F. Kennedy [my all time favorite president (:] was in office, March 6, 1961 to be exact. He proposed this idea to help minorities, women, and all other underrepresented people achieve the same rights as white men, particularly in the workplace and in educational institutions. White men were pretty much given priority over all other people regarding education and also for jobs while also getting paid more. The messed up thing is this policy still didn't get passed yet so those same inequalities still exist to this day. Now it may not be so extreme to the point that the United States remains segregated, but really it's pretty embarrassing and almost hypocritical how a nation that boasts about freedom and equality doesn't even provide every one with the same equal rights. I know that a lot of positive changes has happened between then and now, especially regarding minorities, but it's about time that all PEOPLE should be created equal and recognized as such.

I agree with this post and what you wrote. All people should be treated as equal whether they be male, female, a minority, or disabled. There is definitely still discrimination used against some, even though it may be subtle. We are all people, and every action should be taken to ensure that we are all then treated equally.
